Co-Presidents

Morry Silverman

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pa.  Morry relocated  to Wellington in 2004. He has always belonged to Conservative Synagogues throughout his adult life. All three of his adult children attended Solomon Schechter Day School in Cleveland, Ohio.  He holds a BS degree in Pharmacy where he worked as a pharmacist for 10 years after graduating and then moved into the real estate sector of retail pharmacy working as a Director of Real Estate for CVS Pharmacy.

After moving to Wellington and “interviewing” a number of Shuls, he decided that a “small start up” synagogue appealed to him and his wife, Sallee. He has had many different roles in TBJ as a board member, co-president, and president.

“TBJ is my family and like all families I have a vested interest in MY Shul”

Andrea Cohan

Andrea and her husband Alan are true Wellington pioneers, having moved to Wellington in
1979, there were no schools, no supermarkets, lots of green spaces. Everything was in
Greenacres or West Palm Beach. Their youngest child was fortunate to attend Wellington’s first
elementary school, middle school and the inaugural freshman class at Wellington High. All
three children are graduates of Florida colleges.
Andrea tells us, “We originally had to travel to West Palm Beach for synagogue and religious
school. We were thrilled and became charter members when the Wellington Reform
synagogue was established, but we always knew we were more comfortable at a Conservative
shul. When we learned about a Conservative shul being established in 2007 Alan and I both
said count us in.” She has been involved in various aspects of B’nai Jacob synagogue life since
that time, primarily as director of the religious school.
Andrea’s professional life includes her position as Director of Consumer Affairs at an
International Car Rental Corporation, President of the Florida Chapter of Society of Consumer
Affairs Professionals and more recently as Director of Admissions for Jewish Residential and
Family Service. She retired in 2024 and is now able to devote even more time to family and
synagogue growth and development.
“It is an honor to be serving Temple B’nai Jacob in this capacity. I look forward to welcoming all
members and guests to our spiritual home”.
